Chocolate has been and will always be the greatest source of Endorphins, serotonin, oxytocin and dopamine. All of these form the quartet which gives us the feeling of happiness and all of these are released when we consume chocolate. Therefore, it is not a mystery as to why everyone from a little baby to an elderly person love chocolate equally. It is truly comforting and I at a very young age found comfort in it.
I was always fortunate enough to have a very high stock of chocolates in the fridge and freezer. Everytime we travelled, brand new stock was brought back home from the airport dutyfree or the state/ country we visited. This led me to discover the different flavours of chocolate and the many different textures that are available in the market. Soon, i saw myself falling into the world of chocolates and started to study extensively into the topic. Bought loads of books and started trying out different recipes. I soon realised that this single ingredient had so much potential. I started creating new dishes with it, trying different flavour combinations. It soon became clear that I had found my calling. This gave me happiness beyond measure.
In a world full of negativity and fake faces, it became tough for me, a person who used to smile all day, to find the peace to and quiet to find myself and put the smile back on my face. I was always the ugly one in a room full of people, others never said that to me but I felt it. I would refrain looking at the mirror. I would hide my face in public spaces and always look down when talking to someone. I lost all my confidence and felt that I was good for nothing. Chocolate showed me the way. It showed me the path to carry my life forward.
It became obvious to me that I had to pursue Hotel Management after school. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I found my smile back and was appreciated for it multiple times by strangers. It felt good. It helped me build my confidence back up and be the person I was always meant to be.
I have started on this path and am excited to see where it takes me eventually. I hope anyone out there who thinks they are not good enough gets to read this and know that they will find their calling and when they do, they'll feel like it was a waste to ever think that things wouldn't work out.
You are amazing, you are one of a kind and you are beautiful. Stay at it and see yourself shine brighter than ever before.
Take care, stay safe!
